5th Future of Employment Forum – “Migration and work”
5th Future of Employment Forum puts career opportunities of young migrants to the test
Mag. Johann Bezdeka, department head in the Ministry of the Interior, Mag. Markus Heingärtner, management club, OECD director Jean-Pierre Garson, Cablecom manager Frank Zelger and CCC Expansion Manager Carita Vallinkoski discuss the future of work for young migrants.
This year, the 5th Future of Employment Forum, organised on the initiative of Competence Call Center (CCC), management club and CAREER, deals with a key economic and socio-political issue: why is it that the career opportunities of young people with a migration background are limited? How can their education and job opportunities be improved? What can be done to turn integration problems into social and vocational success stories? This question lies at the centre of a high-calibre panel discussion at the 5th Future of Employment Forum on 1 July in the Federal Ministry of the Interior.
Labour force potential must not be neglected
“When we offer opportunities for young migrants and promote the labour force potential, we make an important social contribution and act in an economically prudent way for Austria as a business location”, says the CEO of Competence Call Center, Thomas Kloibhofer, M.A. Mag. Markus Heingärtner has similar opinions: “An attractive business and innovation location simply cannot afford to offer inferior educational, job and career opportunities to young migrants.”
The barriers to education and job opportunities and what can be done about it are discussed at the 5th Future of Employment forum following a keynote speech by OECD director for Labour and Social Affairs, Jean-Pierre Garson with Mag. Johann Bezdeka, Cablecom Manager Frank Zelger and CCC Expansion Manager Carita Vallinkoski. Question of vocational integration are also at the centre of the National Action Plan for Integration set up under the aegis of Minster of the Interior Fekter. The action plan is currently being implemented. “German language skills, individual responsibility and personal effort are the key to successful overall integration”, the Minster for the Interior argues.
The 5th Future of Employment Forum takes place on Thursday, 1 July from 12.30 p.m. to 2.00 p.m. under the leadership of Dr Martina Salomon, chief domestic policy editor of “Presse” in the large lecture hall of the Federal Ministry of the Interior (Minoritenplatz 9, 1010 Vienna).
